God is Love by Joe Barnett
Neither height nor depth, nor anything else…will be able to separate us from the love of God. Romans 8:39
George Matheson was 15 when he was told he was going blind. By the time he finished university studies, he was sightless.
His fiancé broke their engagement, saying she could not go through life married to a blind man. He was crushed, but wrote his best known hymn when he was in the throes of what he called “most severe mental suffering.”
O Love that will not let me go,
I rest my weary soul in thee;
I give Thee back the life I owe,
That in Thine ocean depths its flow
May richer, fuller be.
Human love is sometimes fickle and fragile, but God’s love is a love that will never let you go.
God is omnipotent. God is omniscient.
But most of all God is love.
